writing without a firewall

Dear ___

You asked if I had ever thought of starting a blog, and I hadn’t. But the idea grew on me. Thoughts of Thomas Paine waltzed through my head, as well as the tantalizing notion of having my writing recognized as mine.

I did not take into consideration the fact that I still hide my writing. I hate the idea of anyone reading my dreadful first drafts. The fourth and fifth drafts make it to very, very few.

So here I am, one month in, and terrified to write. Frightened of judgement, of disparaging remarks. . . but mostly of remaining invisible.

Perhaps I’m setting my sights too high. My first entry will not be perfect. None will be. But that’s okay.

I don’t write second drafts of my letters.

I am so excited. Okay, that probably just makes you more nervous. If I, with my crappy writing, run-on sentence, grammatical errors and erratic train of thought can write a blog so can you 🙂
